Ray A. Mundy, Ph.D.
Director of the Center for Transportation Studies and Barriger Endowed Professor of Transportation and Logistics, the University of Missouri - St. Louis, Dr. Mundy currently teaches courses in Supply Chain Management and Transportation. He has authored numerous industry reports, is an active lecturer at national transportation and logistics seminars, and is a frequent contributor of articles to trade publications and journals.
Currently Dr. Mundy sits on the editorial review boards of the International Journal of Transportation Planning and Technology and the Transportation Management Journal. Dr. Mundy has participated on research teams that have twice been awarded the Plowman award for outstanding logistics research and publication. Dr. Mundy has recently completed a series of texts for industry centered on process flow analysis and statistical process control.
Until recently, Dr. Mundy managed the Transportation Management & Policies Studies program of the University of Tennessee. There he was a Director of the University of Tennessee's Supply Chain Forum and the MBA and Ph.D. advisor for the department. In these capacities, Dr. Mundy managed numerous major research efforts, training programs, and technical assistance projects over his twenty-six years with the University.
Dr. Mundy is a consultant to both the public and private sector, including engagements with numerous U.S. airports and their ground transportation companies, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the World Bank, CSX and Burlington Northern Railroads, The Coca-Cola Company, EDS, Ryder and the Toyota Motor Company of America, among others.
His current research interests include the practice of continuous improvement and the design and teaching of Supply Chain courses at the Executive Level. He is developing transportation and logistics training level courses for lower level operational personnel and a graduate level Certificate Program in Supply Chain Management.
Dr. Mundy also sits on numerous boards. He is a director of Forward Air Corporation and sits on several advisory boards for Internet, transportation, and logistics companies. Among these are The Idea Project, Warehouse Logistics and TSS Wireless, Inc.
Additionally, he is the Executive Director of the Airport Ground Transportation Association and Director of the Tennessee Transportation and Logistics Foundation. Dr. Mundy holds a B.A. and M.B.A. form Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University.
